First Class Scout To earn the First Class rank, a Scout must demonstrate growing self-sufficiency, a well-honed ability to take care of others, and proven leadership ability. Earning this rank is a significant achievement, symbolizing the transition from a "hiker" Scout to a "camper" Scout. The specific accomplishments required to achieve this rank included demonstrating a solid understanding of basic survival skills, administering first-aid, and exhibiting a firm understanding of the rights and obligations of all U.S. citizens. This oval-shaped coin salutes all those who have earned the First Class rank. The obverse features the First Class Insignia. The reverse features a space for engraving. Struck in a brass alloy and brushed with an antique finish, this coin is accented on both sides with bold enamel highlights.
