Two Retro-Fit Models. Manufacturer recommends determination of wall depth prior to ordering. Although many interior walls in typical construction are framed in 2x4 lumber, the busy wall behind the washer, dryer and laundry sink is typically deeper allowing room for all the plumbing, electrical and the dryers exhaust. If more than 3.5" exist, the deeper Model 500 has advantages; providing more depth (more storage) and a round port or hole (more efficient). How to determine wall depth. To determine the framing depth of the wall, a long sharp object like a screw driver or knife can be pushed through the wall next to the dryer exhaust penetration or the washing machine connection box. The deeper Model 500 requires 4.25" or more of stud depth. These are white powder coated and do not need to be painted. Included are two 8x1" stainless steel screws along with a metal shoehorn like tool to assist in steering the pipe into the port.
