Where the Girls Are 8 / Various
For many years Ace Records' Where The Girls Are series has been the place to look for US girl groups of the 1960s - particularly those of the rare and collectable variety.
This latest volume features hard-to-find titles by famous artists such as the Blossoms, the Orlons, the Sherrys, Dee Dee Sharp, Jan Bradley and Little Eva, plus a host of rarities by lesser known but equally great-sounding acts.
Most of the tracks are new to CD, including previously unissued tunes by the Del-Phis (alias Martha & the Vandellas), the Fran-cettes and the Four Havens.
Highlights include fabulous numbers by Charlotte O'Hara (aka Bonnie of Bonnie & the Treasures), Nikki Blu (alias Marlena Davis of the Orlons) and Diane Christian (of the Darlettes).
The booklet features a plethora of scarce illustrations and a detailed track commentary by series compilers Mick Patrick and Malcolm Baumgart.
