Voyager Shirt Pattern
Voyager Shirt Pattern. Frontier, Trapper. This Voyager's Shirt is designed after typical shirts worn by the French Voyagers and boatmen in the late 18th century. The shirt can be worn out or tucked in. The pattern has a choice of two lengths. The traditional length is 36 to 39 inches long - men of this era typically had few clothes and this shirt frequently substituted as a night shirt. The standard length is 4 inches shorter and is about the same length as a regular shirt. Typical of this period the shirt is loose fitting and has no shoulder seam. The fabric is folded in half in both directions before cutting. A shoulder reinforcement is also included. The pattern includes sizes Small (36) through XX-Large (50) and includes a complete glossary of terms so that anyone, novice or experienced seamstress, will be comfortable using this pattern. Suggested fabrics are linen or linen blends, cotton or cotton blends, and lightweight wool. 18th century, Mountain Man, Rendezvous, Louis and Clarke, Colonial, American Revolutionary War, Fur Trade, Trapper Impressions. Dances with Wolves, Last of the Mohicans, Jerimiah Johnson. Great for SASS and Pow Wow living history events.
