Twining is a basketry method where two or more horizontal weavers twist around vertical stakes. Generally the materials used for twining weavers are soft and flexible while the stakes can be more rigid. Baskets as well as rugs, mats, sacks and clothing can be constructed with the twining technique. These instructions will teach you how to twine a small basket. The beginning of the basket is the most difficult part. Basketry requires patience and perseverance. Keep at it and you will be proud of your new skills and finished basket.
