Trio Quartet Quintet & Sextet For Strings
As a sequel to their two highly-successful discs of Boccherini's string and guitar quintets, Fabio Biondi and members of Europa Galante today turn to the composer's prolific chamber works. This new program samples each chamber music form from the trio to the sextet.<P> Unjustly neglected in concert halls, Boccherini's compositions were nonetheless central to the development of chamber music, with his 113 quintets with two cellos (a form invented by him), 91 quartets (of which he was one of the first initiators), trios, and works for various combinations of instruments. Fabio Biondi and Europa Galante, in recording and performing these works contribute to the worthy cause of bringing this talented composer back into people's consciousness.
