Lilia Anderson needs help and fast. The bar she has worked so hard to make successful is in danger of being stolen out from under her by her own uncle, and she needs a significant amount of money to save it. One meeting with an infuriating man from her past, Josh Wilder, has her partnering with the handsome auto racer to raise the money. She tries to keep her heart protected, but soon Lilia finds that she is looking forward to his calls, visits and even his races. Just when Lilia loses her heart to Josh, he gets into a horrible accident and she sees a side of him that gives their relationship an unexpected twist.
