This three-disc set includes a bonus DVD of Winterreise with pianist Julius Drake, a unique dramatization of Schubert's terrifying and deeply-moving portrayal of human desolation with studio sets, actors, costumes and props lead the song cycle a new close-up dynamism. The DVD also includes the documentary film Over the Top with Franz, a humorous look at the difficulties of bringing Winterreise to the screen. This release coincides with the publishing of a new book on Winterreise written by Bostridge.
