Scene in Between 1965 - 1967
Big Beat's Nuggets From The Golden State series is proud to pay tribute to one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most notable combos, the exceptional Stained Glass, with their first-ever anthology, A Scene In-Between 1965-1967.
Fronted by songwriter and bassist Jim McPherson, the San Jose group began life as the Trolls in 1965, cutting the fantastic punk item Walkin' Shoes before embarking upon an excellent run of mostly original singles on RCA, including the pop-psych gems My Buddy Sin and A Scene In-Between.
This compilation focuses on the first two years of the band's career. As well as selected single sides it boasts a swathe of exceptional unissued studio and live recordings which demonstrate the smart songwriting and innovative sound of the Stained Glass.
The package was produced with the full co-operation of the surviving band members, and a lengthy, profusely illustrated liner note details the early years of this heretofore unheralded, yet eminently worthy, outfit. Compilation and notes by Alec Palao. A limited edition of 1500.
