SMART cables are designed to monitor the voltage of a battery and indicate when it’s time to recharge it. When batteries are stored, even if they are not used, the voltage will slowly go down. If the battery is allowed to go too low in voltage it becomes damaged (sulphated). SMART cables indicates when a battery needs recharging well ahead of sulphation.
