About 150 saffron flowers produce 1 gram premium saffron. 225,000 saffron flowers produce about 1 pound superior saffron. Saffron is simply the king of spices and known as red gold. Saffron must be harvested only by hand on daily bases for about a month before sun light and heat burn the saffron stigma.
