The Red Wing 877-style work boot arrived in the early 1950's, inspired by the tall work and sport boots of the 1930s. When it debuted, it featured the Traction-Tred sole, making the first time the cushion crepe wedge sole was used in men's shoes. Nearly 50,000 pairs were sold in 1954, and today the 877 remains one of Red Wing's most popular styles.
