With<br>Detroit-born singer, songwriter and producer Ray Parker, Jr. in<br>the driver s seat, that early 1978 release went gold in the United<br>States thanks to sales of more than 500,000 copies and the<br>single Jack and Jill was a major hit, reaching #5 R&B and #8<br>pop in Billboard in the U.S. in addition to making it to #11 in the<br>UK, #4 in Australia and New Zealand and #5 in Canada. But<br>Raydio kept the commercial and creative momentum going<br>with their second album, Rock On, which was released by Arista<br>Records in 1979.<br>Rock On, like Raydio, was certified gold in the U.S. by the<br>Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and a major<br>factor in the album s success was the single You Can t Change<br>That. A laid-back, mid-tempo soul-pop groove that found<br>Parker and Raydio s Arnell Carmichael sharing the lead vocals,<br> You Can t Change That climbed to #3 on Billboard s R&B<br>singles chart in the U.S. and #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Another<br>single, the moody More Than One Way to Love a Woman, <br>peaked at #25 R&B in Billboard in the U.S. where Rock On made<br>it to #4 on Billboard s R&B albums chart.
