With the ever-evolving changes and trends of contemporary island music, Na Palapalai responded to the many requests of friends and family to bring back the sound of when life was simple and we would gather in our backyards with family and friends to enjoy eachother's company. Na Palapalai remains true to the oldest form of Hawaiian music, one in which their kupuna would be very proud. Makani 'Olu'olu won 5 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards in 2001.
