There, he encouraged his students to use photography as a social medium.<br />§ In 1908, he left his teaching position and became a photographer for the National Child Labor Committee.<br />§ Hines photographs showed the harsh conditions of child labor, which led to new child labor laws in the United States.<br />§ In 1930, Hine was commissioned to photograph the construction of The Empire State Building.
