Montreal, Quebecs Chthe'ilist was formed in 2010 by vocalist / guitarist / bassist Philippe Tougas and drummer Philippe Boucher (also of notorious Canadian tech death metal wizards Beyond Creation) with the sole intent to play abhorrent, morbid, atmospheric, brutal, Demilich-worshipping technical death metal with over-the-top guitar shredding. The collaboration soon yielded the Amechthntaasmrriachth demo, which caused quite the stir in the underground death metal scene. Almost five years since the band (now a three-piece) unleashed their demo, their anticipated debut full-length is finally set for release in 2016. Mixed by Greg Chandler (Esoteric, Cruciamentum, Indesinence) at his Priory Studios, Le Dernier Crépuscule is an insane and dark masterwork on which the bands old-school Finnish death metal influences (Crematory, Abhorrence, early Xysma and of course the aforementioned Demilich) blend with echoes of Pestilence, Nocturnus, Timeghoul and Ripping Corpse throughout seven massive and ambitious pieces.
