This is the ninth revision of <i>Latin for Americans</i>. This series has been a favorite among Latin teachers for several years. The program maintains a strong pedagogy. Students who study Latin using <i>Latin for Americans</I> are able to read connected Latin passages with comprehension of <b>Latin as Latin</b>. <p>In addition to building reading skills, the passages (often derived from classical sources), provide <b>cultural information</b> and comparisons between ancient and modern life. <b>Vocabulary</b> presented is chosen based on the frequency of its occurrence in Latin literature and English derivatives. Latin <b>grammar</b> is presented simply. The similarities and differences between Latin and English are regularly explained.
