• Great supplemental food for dart frogs or other animals that need tiny live food. Springtails can live for months in this container or can be upgraded to a larger culture. Reproduces quickly!
• Adults may not survive shipping due to shifting charcoal or extreme heat. The majority of cultures recover from shipping in 1-2 weeks after eggs hatch.
• If you want to immediately seed a terrarium, consider the 8 oz cultures in coco fiber. The coco fiber protects adults due shipping leading to more alive adults upon arrival.
• Remove springtails from culture by flooding with water and pouring them out or by scooping out the charcoal.

Springtails (Folsomia candida) are tiny arthropods (1-4 mm) and are used as "Tank Janitors" in a terrarium, eating mold and waste. They also make a great supplemental food for your poison dart frogs. When you add springtails to your tanks they will reproduce. Simply dump the entire springtail culture in your terrarium and mix the charcoal in the springtail culture right into your substrate. One culture can benefit 2-4 terrariums. Cultures are started 1-2 weeks before shipping. Feed weekly with Josh's Frogs Spring to Life Springtail Food If you are not adding to terrariums, we recommend that you buy a starter culture and use it start a larger culture (we use 5 qt. Sterilite containers). Larger cultures produce better and are less prone to CO2 buildup. If you use this smaller culture to start a larger culture to feed froglets or seed multiple tanks, allow the culture to grow for a month before use.
