Born and raised in Calgary, 25-year-old Kiesa Rae Ellestad, better known by her stage-name, Kiesza, is a trained ballerina and had served in the Navy as a teen. Her shooting skills had such precision, the Army tried to recruit her as a sniper! Instead, she turned to music, paying homage to singers like Michael Jackson, Martha Wash, CeCe Peniston and Robin S, while adding in more recent influences like Disclosure and Hot Natured. Her single, Hideaway, is packed with deep house grooves and shimmering soulful melodies. Kiesza's EP explores very soulful music and the whole 90s era.
