• Widely used as a mid-range pH indicator in the lab, it changes color from yellow in acidic conditions (pH less than 7) to blue in alkaline ones (pH greater than 7), making it useful for monitoring pH changes in titrations and other chemical reactions. At a pH of 7, bromothymol blue appears green.
