"Green Book is a comedy drama directed by Peter Farrelly. Based on the true story of Jamaican-American pianist Don Shirley (played by Academy Award Winner Mahershala Ali) and bouncer Tony Lip (played by Academy Award Nominee Viggo Mortensen), Green Book follows the pair as they tour the Deep South in the 1960s with Lip as Shirley’s driver and security. The pair forge a close friendship during the tour, navigating the deep racism of the region together. The world premiere of Green Book came at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, where the film won the People’s Choice Award. The film has since received glowing reviews and is considered a serious contender going into the awards season. The score to Green Book was composed by pianist and musical maverick Kris Bowers. A collaborator of everyone from Kanye West to A Tribe Called Quest, Bowers has crafted a beautiful score for Green Book thick with jazz-inspiration and moving piano compositions that have been called out as a highlight of the film.
