At the end of 2005 FedEx modified the FedEx Express and The World On TIme logos, changing the font used for these logos. These logo changes are incorporated into the livery of the FedEx fleet with all new aircraft being added and to existing aircraft when it is time to have them repainted. The all-cargo MD-11F provides the capacity for 202,100-pound (91,670 kilograms) gross payloads. The freighter's main cabin will hold up to 15,530 cubic feet (440 cubic meters) of palletized cargo. Its lower compartments will hold an additional 5,566 cubic feet (158 cubic meters) of containerized or bulk cargo. The MD-11 aircraft design was based on the DC-10. Design changes and improvements included a longer fuselage, winglets for improved aerodynamics, a redesigned tail assembly, more powerful engines, and a more advanced flight deck featuring an electronic flight instrument system allowing a reduction to two flight crew.
