Double Trouble (Shad Cain Book 8)
Cain doesn’t ask much of life, a little meat sizzling over a fire, a roof over his head, and a buckskin shirt to cover him. The meat may be little burnt, the roof may only be a star studded sky, and the shirt may be hard to come by. But he can brush those little problems off and go on living his life.
What he can’t tolerate is someone going to great lengths to have a friend of his murdered. Nor can he abide two wild and out of control brothers causing the death of a well-liked old man. Cain had taken the old fella under his wing and made sure he had enough to eat. When the brothers met Shadrac they got a taste of their own medicine, which caused a declaration of war by the largest cattle spread in the area. Cain finds himself fighting battles on two different fronts.
Cain only has three rules 1) Don’t mess with my friends. 2) Don’t bother women folk or youngens. 3) Don’t mess with me.
