Torchy was to become the first male choir to venture into the uncharted territory of popular music and collaboration in television shows with celebrities such as Ella Fitzgerald, Julie Andrews, Burt Bacharach, Tom Jones, and Sir Harry Secombe convinced them of the value of this 'new talent'.
