Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown Founded in 1959, Training Center Yorktown is the Coast Guard's largest training command, providing instruction in all of the Coast Guard's operational programs. Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown is located on the easternmost tip of Virginia's historic triangle, which consists of Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg. Through its various schools and centers, including its National Aids to Navigation School (NATON), the Boat Forces Center, and Boatswain's Mate School, it fulfills its mission to train and equip the Coast Guard's enlisted personnel to meet the demands of providing effective search and rescue, homeland security, and maritime law enforcement. This coin salutes the mission of Training Center Yorktown to prepare men and women to serve as members of the nation's elite coastal defense force. The obverse features Coast Guard TRACEN Yorktown's official seal. The reverse bears the official Coast Guard seal.
