It was the last pre-series, with a brand new suspension featuring five larger, independently sprung road wheels and four return rollers. The Ausf. C appeared in June 1938, superseding the Ausf. B and became the main variant used throughout the war. It was produced until mid 1941. During 1939-40, it was the most largely available tank for the Panzertruppen.
