Bom Partido displays a wide range of Brazilian music performed with the unique virtuosity of the Brasil Guitar Duo. The album features choros by mandolin master Jacob do Bandolim, an arrangement of a pop song by Djavan, works by modern guitar masters Paulo Bellinati and Heraldo do Monte, a brooding cycle by Marlos Nobre and aa fugue of traditional brazilian melodies by Douglas Lora. With tours across the US and South America, the Duo is quickly solidifying its status as one of the preeminent guitar duos of its generation. The duo is at home in multiple settings, be it in recital at Carnegie Hall, playing a concerto with the Houston Symphony or playing Brazilian music in a jazz club. The duo s repertoire ranges from the titans of the classical canon (Bach, Scarlatti, Sor, Piazzolla) to traditional Brazilian repertoire (Jacob do Bandolim, Pixinguinha, Djavan, Egberto Gismonti). Bom Partido is the first recording of exclusively Brazilian repertoire. Its debut CD of classical repertoire, João Luiz e Douglas Lora, was released in 2000 to wide critical acclaim; Classical Guitar stated: One would be hard put to think of a finer way to enter the world of recorded music.
