Inspired, like many of his peers, by seeing Elvis Presley, Johnny had a distinct advantage over many of his rivals, since he was an accomplished songwriter, meaning he was less reliant on outside sources for his repertoire. His biggest hit was Poetry In Motion, which topped the British chart and prompted his record label Cadence to revisit some of his earlier, less successful singles.
